MARKET SURVEY-This is an inquiry for the availability or an existing commercial or non-developmental item to support the above weapon system. The friction clutch assembly is a major component of the elevating mechanism. The clutch assembly is adjusted to hold a 230 ft/lb torque applied in either direction. A shaftand stop are attached to the external clutch release lever and when activated, it releases the disc pressure on the elevating shaft to allow the cradle and gun tube of the weapon to be elevated or depressed. Engagement force of the shaft is not to 80 ft/lb of torque. It primarily consists of a machined housing, cover, gasket, internal friction clutch assembly, rigid coupling shaft, ball bearings, and spring-loaded shifter fork and connecting link. The overall dimensions of the assembly are approximately 6.62 inches x 7.37 inches x 11.68 inches. The housing and cover are manufactured or machined from aluminum alloy material; and are treated with an anodized finish. The major internal componentsof this assembly are manufactured or machined from alloy steel material.
