The work consists of the removal of approximately 363,000 cubic yards of dredged material comprised of maintenance material and new work virgin material (hard packed sands and clay) from 11,374 feet of project channel with variable widths of 125 to 225 feet to required depths of 16 feet (below mean low tide) and 2 feet of allowable overdepth. The main channel will be widened to widths varying from 50 to 100 feet. Disposal is in partially confined placement area on Sundown Island. Approximately 3,000 lineal feet of 8-10 feet diameter geotube will be constructed on the northeast side of Sundown Island to help contain the dredged material.
