synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. This procurement is being conducted
under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Request for Quotations to
furnish an unmanned crawler crane with a minimum of 100 feet of boom
and maximum allowed counterweight to lift a 20 ton stone and an
estimated 5000 lbs. of "hook" & rigging at a 60 feet radius and a 10
ton stone at a 80 feet radius. The lifting capacity of the following
crane was examined and was found to be acceptable: Manitowoc 4000W.
This is an unrestricted acquisition. The proposed crane rental period
is for 2 months commencing with delivery 5 days after award. The crane
will be used on the US Army Corps of Engineers Stone Dock at the north
bank of the Calumet River at the mouth. Road access is available via
the adjacent USX Property (formerly US Steel South Works) with entrance
at 86th street off South Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. The crane shall be
ready to operate no later than 5 days after delivery. Suppliers shall
quote a separate line item for the total cost of one mobilization and
one demobilization of the crane (includes the delivery,
assembly/disassembly if required, testing and return). The supplier of
the rental crane shall be required to test the crane in accordance
with us Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health requirements Manual
EM385-1-1. The government will supply a Corps of Engineers certified
crane operator and oiler to mann the crane and perform operational
maintenance. Repair of the crane if mechanical breakdown occurs should
be included in the cost of the rental. However, any damage to the
crane caused by operator negligence is the responsibility of the
government. Firms shall provide information IAW the following
applicable FAR Clauses: 52.212-1, 52.212-3, 52.212-4 and Addenda
52-247-34, 52.212-5 with the following clauses incorporated by
reference 52.222-26, 52.222-35, 52.222-37, 52.225-3, and 52.232-34,
which may be viewed via the Internet at http://www.arnet.gov/far.
Selection and award will be made to the lowest priced responsible
offeror whose quote conforms to the requirements of the solicitation.
Firms must provide their Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number
or contact Dun and Bradstreet at 1-800-333-0505 to obtain one. Tax
Identification Number and business size information should also be
submitted with firms quote. Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE)
code may be obtained prior to award. Written quote for the item
