7510, Bethesda, MD 20892-7510 A -- THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF LATE-ONSET GROUP B STREPTOCOCCAL (GBS) SOL
SS-NICHD-DESPR-99-22 POC Lynn Salo: 301-435-6962 WEB: National
Institutes of Health, http://www.nih.gov. E-MAIL: National Institutes
of Health, ls59u@nih.gov. The National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development proposes to study the determinants of risk for
late-onset Group B Streptococcal Disease (GBS) (onset 7-89 days of
age). The proposed study will require 140 cases in a geographically
defined population. Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, has
collected 110 cases with an annual occurrence of 30 cases. Because they
are accruing approximately 30 cases a year, it is feasible for them to
meet our sample size requirements within a one year study period. Any
source who thinks they have the ability to meet the required sample
size within one year, should prepare a short capability statement. In
addition, WESTAT, Inc., Rockville, Maryland, a data coordinating
center, has developed the instruments for the study and has developed
a system to monitor the adequacy of the data. By contracting with
WESTAT, it will allow us to complete the data collection within one
year. Any source who thinks they have the instruments and monitoring
system in place to allow the data collection within one year, should
prepare a short Capability Statement. These statements should be sent
to: Mrs. Lynn Salo, Contract Specialist, NICHD/OAM/CMB, Executive
Blvd., Room 7A07, 6100 Executive Blvd., MSC 7510, Bethesda, Maryland
20892-7510. If sending by overnight carrier, the last two address lines
are: 6100 Executive Blvd., Rockville, Maryland 20852. E-mail and FAX
responses are acceptable. Responses are due 45 days from the
publication of this announcement. (See Numbered Note 22) Posted
