COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 17,1999 PSA#241166 -- ELECTRON SPIN RESONANCE (ESR) SPECTROPHOTOMETER NOTICE OF INTENT
TO SOLE SOURCE. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health (NIOSH) in Morgantown, WV plans to purchase a Electron Spin
Resonance (ESR) Spectrophotometer which is suitable for L-Band whole
animal or human hand/finger in vivo evaluations. This purchase is for
the non-invasive measurement of free radicals generated in workers
exposed to toxic chemicals and carcinogens. We plan to custom develop
a loop-gap resonator in collaboration with the NIH EPR Center at
Dartmouth Medical School. Technology to develop sensitive loop-gap
resonator and portable ESR with L-band capabilities are not known to
exist from any source other than Magnettech GMBH, Berlin, Germany.
Magnettech's ESR Spectrophotometer #CCU-5 control unit includes field
control, hall sensor unit, field modulation synthesis, field scan
initiation, signal acquisition control and analysis software, PC
controlled magnet with freely useable pole gaps 110 mm, magnetic field
0-50 mt, field stability, 1.5 mt/L-band homodyn with cavity with
frequency range 1-1.5 GHz designed for mouse, rat or human arm or
finger. Microwave power 50 MW, attenuation 0,1,2,3,6,10,20,30 DB, and
power supply 110 V. The signal amplified frequency range 10 Hz -- 300
KHz, amplification 1,2,4,8 (fine) 1,10,100,1000 (coarse); resolution 12
BIT; field modulation frequency 25 KHz; Phase 0-360 deg; coarse and
fine attenuation; field modulation accuracy 0.5%; field control with
current regulation; 16 bit scan BO setting, scan 12 bit resolution;
scan range 0-2 BO; scan time 1S, 5S, 10S, 20S, 1M, 2M, 5M, 10M, 30M,
1H; stability 10x6/min; magnet stability and homogeniety 1x10-5; pole
gap 150 mm, available gap 110m; magnetic field 50 MT; ready for surface
coil and loop gap use with a frequency of 1200 MHz with an unloaded Q
950. Magnettech GMBH, Berlin, Germany. The Government intends to
negotiate on a sole-source basis with the Magnettech GMBH, Berlin,
Germany. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations.
