Maintenance and Logistic Command, Pacific is proposing a contract for
the dry-docking and repairs of the USCGC GALVESTON ISLAND. The
cutter's home moorage is located in Eston Island, Guam. The cutter will
be geographical restricted for repairs the distance from homeport not
to exceed the distance to the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. The period of
performance for this contract begins 10 January and completing 18
February 2000. The major work items include and not limited to:
Polymeric deck coverings repair and resealing, underwater body
preservation (100%), fin stabilizer system quadrennial overhaul,
steering gear htd lines, steering gear overhaul, rudder/rudder stock
removal and reinstallation, hawse pipe replacement, warping capstan
renewal, stbd potable water tank vent repairs, firestation deck penet
renewal, fire pump overhaul, sea valve overhaul, ventilation
modifications, engineroom mechanical vent closure, jack staff deck
fittings, fathometer transducer replacement, forward peak scuttle
replacement, exhaust flapper valve overhaul, electric motor overhaul,
potable water tank clean and inspect, aft fuel oil tank preservation,
repair and access cover installation, temporary services,
dry-docking/hauling and etc. The solicitation will be issued under the
Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program on or about 30
August 1999. The notice is for informational purposes for Minority,
Women-owned, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small Business Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned,
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under
the DOT Short Term Lending Programs (STLP) at prime interest rates to
provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is
