-- Cincinnati Contracts Management Division,
lewis.lynne@epamail.epa.gov. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
has a requirement for a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Router that
has the capability to develop a tool path from a variety of input
sources, produce a part through a CNC cutting operation, and
electronically store the tool path for later production of an identical
part. The complete system shall be capable of duplicating an existing
part through the use of a three-axis probe, which can be easily
configured to automatically collect enough information to produce a
complete tool path. The control system and associated software should
have built-in capability to quickly render simple two dimensional
drawings, such as clip art, directly into a tool path which can be
immediately used by the machine. The machine should be capable of
cutting anywhere on the surface of a 5' by 5' table, and also be
capable of automatic travel in the third (Z) dimension, for a distance
of at least 10". The CNC Router must also have the ability to change
tools during an operation, and this tool change must be programmable
from the console, in effect, controlled by the program, Similarly, the
speed of the spindle must be variable, and this speed must be
controllable by the program. The controller should have internal
service interval indicators, and onboard, easily accessed descriptions
of the maintenance procedures. It is anticipated that a firm-fixed
price contract will be awarded and delivery of the entire system will
be within 90 days of award. All responsible sources who submit a
proposal will be considered by the Agency. Interested parties should
submit a written request to Lynne Lewis at the above address. TELEPHONE
