RFP SP4420-99-R-0013. Service contract for a variety of services to
include the inspecting, packaging, loading, unloading, removal,
transportation, storage (if permissible), and disposal/recycling of
hazardous/special wastes located at various military installations
throughout Italy. The Contractor is also responsible for short-notice
waste removals from ships at given ports. Additional services include
waste management services (if requested). Expedited removals, waste
identification, sorting and packaging, tank cleaning, waste sampling
and chemical analysis and the purchase of containers/overpacks/spill
cleanup kits. Waste must be disposed of in a country which is a
signatory to the Basel Convention. SP4420-99-R-0013 will be issued on
or about, September 21, 1999. Approximate closing date is, November 11,
1999. This solicitation will result in a requirements-type contract
being awarded to one contractor. This contract will have an 18-month
base period and two, 12-month option periods. Performance will be
requested by issuance of written delivery orders against the basic
contract. Qualifications: Prospective contractors or subcontractors
must be able to perform in accordance with the respective Italian
environmental laws and regulations, as well as, with any applicable
International Agreements governing the transportation of dangerous
goods, and the May 1989, Basel Convention on the control of
transboundary movements of hazardous/special waste and their disposal.
These standards apply not only to the country in which the waste is
generated and disposed, but also any transient countries through which
the waste is transported, including the United States of America. The
final contract award decision will be based on a combination of price
