The Department of Energy (DOE), Oakland Operations Office intends to a contract on a sole source basis with Westinghouse Electric Corporation (WEC), Engineered Products Department, Carlsbad, NM to supply metal storage containers that will be used by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in their Plutonium Packaging System for the packaging and long term storage of plutonium metals and stabilized plutonium oxides in accordance with DOE STD 3013-96, "Criteria for Preparing and Packaging Plutonium Metals and Oxides for Long Term Storage". An estimated 150 storage container sets will be procured with a minimum order of 20 sets. The containers must be manufactured in accordance with and comply with the quality assurance requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1, Basic 1-18 points. WEC-Carlsbad is NQA-1 qualified and is currently supplying the DOE Rocky Flats site with a large order of the DOE STD 3013-96 storage containers. See Numbered Notes 22 and 26!!
