COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 4,1999 PSA#2402OPERATIONAL COMMANDER'S ASSESSMENT OF C4ISR CONFERENCE 20 OCT 1999. The
San Diego Council of the United States Navy League is sponsoring a
"Operational Commanders' Assessment of C4ISR" breakfast conference on
20 October, 1999 in conjunction with the SPAWAR & Industry Conference,
20-22 October. This breakfast conference is being held from 7:30 a.m.
-- 11:30 a.m. preceding the SPAWAR Industry Conference that starts at
1:15 p.m. that same day. The conference will consist of two separate
panel discussions by senior Operational Commanders giving their
assessments of the health and welfare of the Command, Control,
Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and
Reconnaissance capabilities of the forces they command. The first panel
is a Three Star Panel consisting of COMNAVAIRPAC; COMSURFPAC;
Commander, Third Fleet; and CG I MEF. (All Confirmed) The second panel
will be made up senior members of a CARGRU, a PHIBGRU, SPECWAR, and
the CO, Marine Air Control Group 38, and PACOM J-6 (Invited). This
conference is designed for the operational commanders to tell industry
how they assess the capabilities of their respective forces to conduct
operations using existing C4ISR systems. They will also discuss the
shortcomings of current systems and where they think industry should
focus its efforts for future systems. The purpose of the conference is
to allow industry to get the operational perspective of C4ISR just
prior to hearing what the Navy's C4ISR acquisition agency, SPAWAR, is
doing in the way of upgrading and modernizing these systems. The
conference will be held at the Scottish Rite Center, 1895 Camino Del
Rio South, San Diego, CA. Tickets are available only through
