The work includes removing all material located in the Grit Basin, approximately 340 cubic yards. The thickness of the materials ranges from a few inches to approximately 9 feet. Material to be removed consists mostly of sand and silt sediments, but may be mixed with leaves, wood, plastic and metal, etc. The miscellaneous debris and organic material shall be separated from the sediments and disposed of separately in accordance with regulations at an off site facility. After the debris has been removed from the sediments, the sediments shall be transported to the City of Quincy DPW Yard to be sampled and analyzed for disposal as solid waste. In addition to this material, approximately 90 cubic yards of previously stockpiled materials from the Overflow Structure at the Quincy DPW yard shall be disposed of as solid waste.
