A -- AEFB COOPERATIVE R & D AGREEMENT (CRADA) POC TSGT ROBERT WERTZ, (208) 828-3522 OR robert.wertz@mountainhome.af.mil WEB: Mountain Home AFB Air Force Expeditionary Battlelab, http://www.mountainhome.af.mil/aefb/. E-MAIL: click here to contact the AEFB POC via email, robert.wertz@mountainhome.af.mil. The Air Expeditionary Force Battlelab (AEFB) is interested in receiving proposals for a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) from industry and academia for demonstration of the potential benefits of fuel cell technology. The AEFB believes there is potentially a large benefit, both militarily and commercially, for a standardized fuel cell replacement for internal combustion engines. A typical flight line, for example, may have as many as 17 different types of internal combustion engines providing power to a variety of air conditioners, heaters, power converters, and other equipment. Specifically, for this demonstration, the AEFB is looking for industry or academia partner(s) to temporarily provide periodic access to several 7.5kW to 10 kW fuel cells over a three to six month period to demonstrate this concept. The partner may benefit through exposure to actual flight line equipment and integration of this equipment to aircraft, exposure to technical issues related to interfacing fuel cells with various power conditioning hardware, the ability to demonstrate their product to a potentially wide audience and the promotion received from the demonstration. In addition to providing access to fuel cell hardware, the AEFB is soliciting industry and academia for comments and feedback on the demonstration concept itself. The AEFB demonstration concept is predicated on the assumption that 7.5kW to 10kW fuel cells will be used. The AEFB understands that there are a wide variety of fuel cell sizes and power levels available, and we solicit feedback or suggestions on conceptual alternatives. The AEFB web site, http://www.mountainhome.af.mil/aefb/, offers a brief description of the AEFB fuel cell demonstration, Common Core Power Production. For specific technical questions, please contact TSgt Bob Wertz at (208) 828-3522, or e-mail robert.wertz@mountainhome.af.mil. Posted 07/28/99 (W-SN360026). (0209)
