46 -- REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR A HEMODIALYSIS UNIT SOL RFQ 652-152-99 DUE 080999 POC Janet Davis, Contracting Officer, 804-675-5474; Fax Ph. (804) 675-5502 The VA Medical Center, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA 23249, is seeking a contractor to provide a Reverse Osmosis Water Purification System for the Hemodialysis Unit. This system will include a Multi-media Filtering System, Duplex Carbon System, Water Softening System, Reverse Osmosis System, Storage Tank, Booster Pump, Back Up DI Tank, Final Filters, Megohm Meter, Acid Delivery System and Bi-Carb Delivery System . The components will meet the following specifications: Multi-Media Filtering System will have a Flow Rate of 30 G.P.M. @ delta drop (7) peak flow rate of 60 G.P.M. @ delta P17. Mineral tank with a diameter 24" side shield 71" Media bed depth 36" shipping weight 1,075 lbs tank material is wound fiberglass. Control Valve should be fleck valve controlled by a standard R.E.D. line solid control. Filtering Media has three layers of Media specially selected for particle size and specific gravity provide highly efficient removal of particulate matter. The top layer FM-53 Anthracite traps coarse debris. The middle layer FM-54 Sand traps medium size particles and the bottom layer FM-55 Garnet traps particles as small as ten (10) microns. Duplex Carbon System will have a flow rate per unit 30 G.P.M. @ delta drop (9). Carbon Media is a Centaur Activated Carbon made for Dialysis 12 X 40 mesh Iodine. Two Mineral Tanks 24" X 71" fiberglass wound tanks containing 10 cf of Activated Carbon each. Control Valves will be fleck valved controlled by a standard R.E.D. line solid state control. The unit shall operate in a parallel configuration, i.e., worker and polisher. Water Softening System shall have the capacity of 210,000 G.R.C. per unit @ 1,000 lb salt capacity. The softening medical will be C-249 softening Resin. Filtering tank size will be 24" X 71" fiberglass wound tank containing 10 cf of media. Filtering Valve will be fleck valve controlled by a standard R.E.D. line solid state control. Reverse Osmosis System shall have a recovery of 50-75%. The control voltage will be 115V single phase. The motor voltage will be 460 VAC three phase. The membrane HR (DA) thin film composite. Rejection rate of 98%. Connection will be 1" FNPT. Materials used will be all wetted, stainless steel or inert plastic. Vendor shall supply training and local emergency service. This unit must be a 510K Medical Device. Storage Tank should have a cone bottom, steam cured for ease of sterilization. Tank shall come equipped with a Hydrophobic vent filter. Vendor shall sterilize in accordance with tank manufacturer. Booster Pump with a control panel. Unit will be 15 G.P.M. @ 85 PSI with minimal head loss, all wetted material shall be 316 S.S. 3 phase 230V. Vendor shall supply HOA switch and disconnect. Back Up DI Tank shall be sized according to customer's usage. Vendor shall have regeneration services and emergency tanks on hand at all times. Vendor's plant (regeneration plant, DI tanks) shall be located within 20 miles of customer site. Final Filters shall be duplex .05 filters for pyrogen and bacteria removal and duplex .2 filters for bacteria removal. The .05 filter shall be Hollow Fiber 20". Housing shall be natural poly. Megohm Meter shall be temperature compensated with dual thermostat TC circuitry. Unit shall display 0-20 Megohm-cm. Acid Delivery System shall contain two 200g cone bottom storage tanks with a poly stand. Each tank shall have level controls and alarms. Each tank shall have a pump to distribute acid to the loop. The unit will have feed off valves. Vendor shall size pump according to customers specifications. Each tank shall also come equipped with a hinged lid and a 1/4" hp lightning mixer. Bicarb Delivery will be composed of a Mix Tank and Distribution Tank. The Mix Tank shall be 50g cone bottom with a poly stand. The tank shall come equipped with a hinged lid, and a 1/4" hp lightning mixer; The Distribution Tank 75g cone bottom with a poly stand. Tank shall come equipped with a hinged lid, level control and alarms. The system will have a feed off valve and an Ultraviolet Light on the Loop. Vendor shall size distribution pump according to customers specifications. High and low alarm levels will be set on the Acid Bicarb and Water tanks. Vendor will set up a 24-station delivery system. Vendor must be 510K approved and have 510K number. Installation will be done after hours with no interruption of the Hemodialysis Unit which operates Monday through Saturday. Vendor will coordinate time of service with Engineering and Hemodialysis. Piping used for installation must be Polypropipe and sealed with socket fusion. Service contract will be set up for exchange of all DI and Carbon Tanks along with yearly PM checks of RO System. Site visit is strongly recommended to accurately assess the wants and needs of the Hemodialysis Unit. All responsible sources may submit an offer.
