Seattle Regional Office, U.S. Department of Energy (U.S. DOE) is
seeking the professional services of one contractor to provide
technical assistance and program support to the Pacific Northwest and
Alaska Regional Bioenergy Program. The U.S. DOE established regional
Bioenergy programs to promote the development of effective uses of
biomass for energy. The legislative authority directs U.S. DOE to
"carry out activities related to technology transfer, industry support,
resource assessment, and matching local resources to conversion
technologies." Regional programs have been established for the
Northeast, Great Lakes, Southeast, Western and the Pacific Northwest
and Alaska. The Pacific Northwest regional program consists of the
states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, and Montana. Technical
assistance and program support will be in the areas of development of
operating plans, evaluation of projects, project tracking and
monitoring, preparation of quarterly and annual reports and the
development ofarticles and factsheets intended for publication. The
contractor will also be responsible for compiling the regional
Bioenergy Program Yearbook. Additionally, the contractor should be very
familiar with the development and deployment of Bioenergy technologies,
especially ethanol and biodiesel. Expected contract base performance
period is January 10, 2000, through January 9, 2001, with the potential
of four (4) 1-year option period renewals. Interested parties will be

proposed contract is 100 percent set-aside for Small Business, SIC code
