synosis/solicitation for a commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in the notice. This announcement constitues the
only solicitation. Request for Proposals are being required and a
written solicitaiton will not be issued. Solicitation documents and
incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 97-12. This procurement is Unrestricted. SIC 3559.
The Veteran Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy is requesting
proposals for delivery and installation of a automated packaging line
for bottles of tablets/capsules repackaging. System must be capable of
unscrambling round bottles, jars, cans and containers without
assistance, automatic count and fill up to at least 3500
tablets/capsules per minute. The equipment must be fully integrated,
stainless steel construction with low noise level and smooth handling.
Must have safe guard to provide accurate repeatable performance. Must
automatically cap bottle, label front/back, wraparound, top label or
any combination at speeds up to 60 bottles per minute for a 30 count
bottle of aspirin-sized tablets. System must have a vacuum and cleaning
capacity. F.O.B. destination is requested with installation and
training. Warranty and maintenance information should be included in
proposals. Maintenance and Operation manuals are required with the

company letterhead or on Contracting Officers's perferred form (SF
1449), etc. to Contracting Officer, Ralph H. Johnson Department of
Veteran Affairs Medical Center, CIFO90c, 109 Bee Street, Charleston,
South Carolina 29401-5799 no later than August 16, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.
