C -- RENOVATE BUILDING NO. 59 DUE 080699 POC Harry Pearson, Contract Specialist, (610) 383-0202 The VA Medical Center, Coatesville, PA is seeking candidates to provide professional Architect/Engineer services for the development of the Preliminary Design, which is to include a detailed cost estimate, preliminary drawings sufficiently complete to clearly identify the scope of this project, and a list of the specifications needed taken from the VA Master Construction Specifications list. The awarded contract for this project will also contain the provisions for optional award to design the complete working drawings, specifications, cost estimate and construction period services. This project will involve the complete renovations of the first and second floors of Building No. 59 (with a total approximate space of 35,686 gross square feet). Design renovations are to convert the existing spaces for use as a nursing home care unit, and will included bathroom/shower room renovations for geriatric/handicapped accommodations, additional female bathrooms, new heating/cooling/ventilation and exhaust systems, new or renovated lighting and electrical systems, new nurse call system, automatic doors w/motion detectors, upgrade the electrical distribution system, additional emergency power, replace the domestic water/drain and vent systems, medical gas systems, inclusion of patient bedside care console units, renovation or replacement of handrails/door openers/thresholds and grab bars, fire alarm and sprinkler work, new cable tray system for TV, inclusion of computer and telephone lines, upgrade of cable TV system, inclusion of a total privacy concept, seclusion room upgrade, renovation of the day room exhaust/supply system, upgrade of the Medicine room facilities, total ceiling replacements, inclusion of wallpapering or painting (including graphic designs) /carpeting/floor tile/cove base and other finish work. The services of a Certified Industrial Hygienist will be required for expected Asbestos Abatement design requirements. The A/E firm must have the capabilities of providing the contract drawings and as-builts (on 3.5" disks) in Auto CADD, version 14, .DWG format, with font selection limited to "Bold.SHX" and "ROMANS.SHX", menu set to "ACAD.MNU". All A/E electronic data processing equipment/software used in preparing this project shall be Y2K compliant. This announcement is limited to qualified Architect/Engineer firms located within a 150 mile radius of Coatesville, PA. The Standard Industrial Classification code for this portion of this project is 8712, and the construction cost range is estimated to be between $2,000,000 and $5,000,000. This announcement is unrestricted and any interested qualified Architect/Engineer firm that wishes to be considered, must send a current SF 254 and SF 255 to the attention of the POC at the above noted address, and must be forwarded in time to be received at this address no later than COB (4:30PM local time) on August 6, 1999.
