This project is for replacement of the existing pile collar/hoop fabrications attaching the timber frame floats at Portage Bay and Tonka Mountain Log Transfer Facilities (LTFs) to the float piles with new pile collars; installation of a new walking surface/deck on both floats; removal of the existing timber planking on the Portage Bay float access gangway and installation of a fiberglass grate walking surface in place of the planking; placement of erosion protection concrete with grouted riprap at the Tonka Mountain LTF; installation of a new timber pile; and installation of a rubber tire fender system with steel cap beam on the existing concrete panel-faced bulkhead at the Portage Bay LTF. The Work sites are located at the Portage Bay and Tonke Mountain LTFs on the Petersburg Ranger District, Tongass National Forest. The Portage Bay LTF is located along the eastern shore of Portage Bay, on the northern side of Kupreanof Island, approximately 31 air kilometers (19 air miles) northwest of Petersburg, Alaska. The Tonka Mountain LTF is located along the western shore of Wrangell Narrows, on the eastern side of Kupreanof Island approximately 10 air kilometers (6n air miles) southwest of Petersburg, Alaska. The project sites are accessible by float plane or boat from Petersburg. The contract time is 270 calendar days. The estimated price range is $100,000 -- $250,000.
