Sealed bids from all eligible business concerns will be accepted for
the Cickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Project PRA-CHCH
27(6), in Walker and Catoosa County, Georgia. The project consists of
construction of the limited access U.S. Route 27 Battlefield Bypass
from Lafayette Road to State Route 2 and reconstruction of State Route
2. The project work includes roadway excavation, placement of
aggregate base and hot asphalt concrete pavement, construction of
double bridges over State Route 2, and other miscellaneous work.
Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows:
Roadway excavation, 690,000 CUYD; Aggregate base, grading C or D,
52,000 Tons; Superpave asphalt concrete pavement, 10-30 ESAL, 35,000
Tons; Portland Cement Concrete curb and gutter, 13,000 LNFT; Steel
H-piles, 4300 m; Precast prestressed concrete structural members,
I-beams, AASHTO type 4, 820 m; Structural Concrete, 1,100 m3; and
Reinforcing Steel, 170,000 kg. The project is expected to fall within
the price range of $10,000,000 and $15,000,000. Invitation for Bids No.

Government will issue this solicitation through the use of compact
disks (CD-ROM). Plans, proposal and contract booklets, standard
specifications, and other bid documents will be available in electronic
format on CD-ROM only. The CD-ROM's will be available on or after the
issuance date, from the Federal Highway Administration, Eastern Federal
Lands Highway Division, 21400 Ridgetop Circle, Sterling, Virginia

planholder's lists will be mailed first class. It is strongly
recommended that all requests for bid documents and planholder's lists
be received 7 calendar days before bid opening to ensure receipt of
requested materials. Requests for 'faxing' or overnight mailing will
not be accepted. Bids will be opened on August 31, 1999, at 2:00 pm,

Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The
Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring
short-term capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts
receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms
to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per
contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a
