The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division intends to award, on a sole source basis to KDI Precision Products, Inc., 3975 McMann Road, Cincinnati, OH 45245-2395, utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures, a firm fixed price purchase order for engineering and technical support in an investigation to incorporate proximity fuzing into the M234 self-destruct fuze, which is used in the M80. As a result of full and open competition, KDI Precision became the U.S. Army's mobilization producer for the M234 self-destruct fuze. The Army has invested in excess of $20M in non-recurring costs for the production line at KDI. KDI's intimate involvement with the M234 makes them uniquely qualified to provide the required engineering and support. A written solicitation will not be issued. It is anticipated that award will be made on or about 16 July 1999. Quotes will be accepted via FAX at (540) 653-7088, attention G. R. Vaughan, SD105, no later than 14 July 1999.
