COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 30,1999 PSA#2378SPACE/INFORMATION OPERATIONS CONFERENCE The Association of Old Crows
will present a Space/Information Operations Conference August 11-12,
1999 at the USAF Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado
Springs, Colorado. The classification of the conference will be
TS/SCI/TK. This conference is designed to discuss the U.S. efforts to
assure information superiority in the context of space. The theme for
the conference will be "Space and Information Operations Come of Age."
The chairman of the conference will be Brigadier General Brian Arnold,
USAF, Director of Requirements, Headquarters, Air Force Space Command.
Lieutenant General Donald Cook, Vice Commander, Air Force Space
Command, will give the welcoming address. Featured speakers will
include: Admiral William Owens, USN (Ret.), a former Vice Chairman of
the JCS; Mr. David Kier, Deputy Director, NRO; Dr. Larry Gershwin, CIA;
Major General George Harrison, USAF (Ret.), former commander of AFOTEC;
Major General William Looney, III, USAF, Director of Opera! ! tions,
Air Force Space Command; Ma jor General John Baker, USAF, Commander Air
Intelligence Agency and Joint Command and Control Warfare Center;
Brigadier General Howard Mitchell, USAF, Director, National Security
Space Architect, OSD; Dr. John O'Hara, Deputy Chief Scientist, National
Security Agency and Dr. Stanley Alterman, who will present a paper on
Navigation Warfare. Presentations will include: Space/Information
Operations by the three services; a Foreign Look and a Unified Vision
of Space/Information Operations by the Joint Staff; MASINT, Space and
IO; TENCAP/Space EW and a foreign overview. This conference should not
be missed because it will address issues and information that are not
readily available in alternative forums. We have all heard that DoD is
placing IO under CINCSPACE, but the question is "How, When and Where"
and how it will affect the Space, EW and IO communities. This TS/SCI/TK
level conference will address these issues in detail in Colorado
Springs, the "heart of the space operati! ons! ." You will hear from
senior DoD l eaders responsible for making Space and IO become one.
