New Potential Program. Status: Market Survey is to be conducted during
which various fabric samples of commercially available fabrics will be
reviewed/evaluated. No solicitation document currently exists. These
fabrics will be evaluated for a possible future wear test. 2.
Objective: To conduct a Market Survey to identify possible fabrics for
a future replacement of the current fabric used in the production of
the Optional Purchase Class A and Class B Dress Uniforms (current
fabric is 100% texturized polyester). The Government is not mandating
the type of fibers to be used. The only requirements are that the color
of the fabrics be Army Green 491, be of a type appropriate for use in
dress clothing and are a washable fabric. Companies interested in
having their fabrics considered for possible future use must submit one
yard of their fabric, along with an information paper (specification
sheet) describingthe fabric in detail, to include such things as fabric
name, washing instructions, blend of materials, place of manufacture,
location of source of fibers/elements, colorfastness, current uses for
the fabric, pricing information (cost per yard) reflecting discounts
for various volumes ordered, statement as to the fabric's compliance
with color requirements, and any other information the company feels
appropriate. If one of the submitted samples is chosen for further
testing, the manufacturer must have available/or be able to produce the
needed yardage of fabric for a wear test in a short period of time. 3.
The CBD announcement should be open to all potentially valid
submittals from interested commercial contractors. 4. The fabric sample
and information paper must be submitted no later than 31 August 1999 to
