SCREE NS. DUE 063099 POC JOANNE TARR, 410-965-9474 WEB: Download
Solicitation when/if available, http://www.ssa.gov/oag. E-MAIL:
Contracting Officer, SSA/OAG, JOANNE.TARR@ssa.gov. THIS IS A REQUEST
FOR INFORMATION. Reference: MIDAS99 when responding to this
announcement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking
vendors who can provide commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software for
converting an AS400 application, the Modernized Integrated Disability
Adjudicative System (MIDAS), green screens into Graphical User
Interface (GUI) screens. The functional requirements of the software
are as follows: (1) The software package must be field proven with a
proven track record. That is, it currently must be commercially
available and in use in production environments at multiple customer
sites. SSA must be able to contact existing users for reference
purposes. Software that is in BETA testing or in development will not
be acceptable; (2) Software should be limited to screen scraper. The
SSA wants to continue to build on the existing AS/400 MIDAS application
front end code. The SSA does not require or wish a set of Application
Program Interfaces with which to build a GUI front end; (3) AS/400 or
AS/400e security and data protection measures cannot be by-passed; (4)
Software should reside on the workstation or have capability to be
server- based: (5) No AS/400 programming should be required; (6) "Plug
and play" software installation that requires no desktop programming;
(7) AS/400 green screen transformations should convert: (a) Date
fields into popup calendar boxes; (b) "Binary" (e.g., yes/no) fields
into mutually-exclusive radio buttons; (c) Multiple choice fields into
check boxes; (d) Text fields into text boxes; (e) Programmable
function keys should be transformed into 3D bars; (8) No batch
processing of AS/400 screens should be necessary for the product to
convert to the GUI, so that future changes in AS/400 screens can be
immediately useable without developer intervention; (9) Capability for
elements from two or more text screens to be combined into one GUI
screen; (10) Capability for elements from a single text screen to be
split between two or more GUI screens; (11) Administrator can create
macros that execute multiple actions; these macros can be assigned to
buttons on the GUI screens; (12) Installation is via individual
workstation (3.5 inch diskette) or via Windows NT server using SMS;
(13) Compatibility with SSA-standard NetSoft NS Elite router and
workstations configuration; (14) Capability to access Microsoft Office
applications from a button within the GUI screen; (15) Individual GUI
screens should be customizable in: (a) Basic design and layout; (b)
Colors; (c) Fonts; (d) Size and location of individual elements (e.g.,
text boxes, radio buttons, etc.), (16) Software must run under Windows
NT Workstation 4.0 and must be certified by Microsoft. Responsible
organizations possessing the requisite expertise and resources are
invited to submit information concerning their pricing, capabilities,
experience, and other pertinent data (including GSA contract
information). Please include references of other users of this software
and information regarding the type of technical supportthat is
available; such as training programs, customer support hotlines,
documentation, etc. Any literature, or information submitted as a
response to this notice, must contain enough information attesting to
the capability of a product offered to meet SSA's requirements. In
addition to the requirements listed herein, SSA will evaluate all
technical literature, and may ask to conduct a test or demonstration of
such software to ensure compatibility with the existing SSA Enterprise
Security for desktop applications and SSA's Intelligent
Workstation/Local Area Network (IWS/LAN) configuration. RESPONSES TO
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT ARE DUE BY COB JUNE 30, 1999 and should be submitted
to the address noted in the beginning of this announcement. Questions
of a technical nature may be submitted via the e-mail address. When
