This will be the fourth ship of the LPD 17 Class, LPD 20. Solicitation N00024-99-R-2210 will be issued to Avondale Industries, Inc., New Orleans, LA for construction of the LPD 20 on a sole sources basis, as they are the only known company with the detailed technical knowledge of the LPD 17 Class and production capability to produce an LPD 17 class ship in accordance with the required delivery schedule.
