requirement for a position that consist of coordinating clinical trials
in Veterans with Hepatitis C and developing programs nationally. The
individual appointed to this position will report directly to the MD
and will supervise at least 15 personnel who are conducting clinical
research. In addition, the individual will be responsible for
developing a national program to monitor treatment response in Veterans
with HCV disease on Rebetron therapy, to study the natural history of
HCV disease and to determine reasons for exlusion from therapy.
Requirements: Pharm D degree, extensive experience in the conduct of
clinical trials, liver-related studies, industry and academic
experience which includes at least 3 years of experience coordinating
phase I-III clinical trials in industry and at least 2 years of
managerial experience in an academic center. The individual must have
knowledge of design of databases for treatment and the ability to
handle large datasets, must have experience writing reasearch proposals
for peer-review, willing to work as a member of a team dedicated to the
research of viral hepatitis, experience in patient and provider
education, and demonstrated experience in the education and mentoring
of post-graduate students. Responsibilities include but are not limited
to: develop a national database on the treatment, natural history and
exclusion from treatment of veterans with HCV disease; develop a
program for pharmacokinetic assessment of drugs in early development
for HCV disease; help write original research proposals; write original
manuscripts; to mentor gastroenterology, hepatology, and pharmacy
fellows in the conduct of clinical trials, development of data bases
and drug development for the treatment of GI and liver disease; to
deliver lectures on viral hepatitis and other liver diseases. The
government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under
the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their
interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit
proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive
proposals. However, all proposals received within 45 days after date of
publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A
detemination by the government not to compete with this proposed
contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the
discretion of the government. Information received will normally be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
