Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center-National
(NLECTC-National), is a program of the National Institute of Justice
(NIJ) Office of Science and Technology (OS&T). Aspen Systems
Corporation (ASC) is the Prime Contractor, and in conjunction with the
Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES) of the National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST), jointly administer the Law
Enforcement and Corrections Standards and Testing Program. This program
is designed to assist law enforcement and corrections agencies in
selecting and procuring safe and reliable equipment. Through the Law
Enforcement and Corrections Standards and Testing Program, scientists
and engineers work together with criminal justice professionals to
develop minimum performance standards for equipment, to test equipment
used by law enforcement agencies in NIJ/NLECTC certified laboratories,
and to disseminate the results through equipment performance reports.
Aspen Systems Corporation (NLECTC) intends to test Pathogen-, Cut, and
Puncture-Resistant Gloves for Law Enforcement and Corrections Use in
accordance with the requirements of NIJ Test Protocol 99-114. NLECTC
invites qualified laboratories to provide information pertaining to
their capabilities, length of time required to complete testing, and
cost for testing specific quantities of Pathogen-, Cut, and
Puncture-Resistant Gloves that are being considered for the testing
program. Independent laboratories interested in obtaining status as an
approved laboratory for this testing program must complete a
qualification questionnaire. This questionnaire must be returned by
5:00 p.m. EST Tuesday, July 6, 1999 to Mr. Lance Miller, Testing
Manager, NLECTC, 2277 Research Boulevard, Mailstop 8J, Rockville,
