NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a master console: Microway Screamer-LX 667 MHz motherboards with the follwing features: 4 PCI/2 ISA, 2 serial/1 parallel port; 8 MB 7ns SRAM cache; mid-size tower (8 bays) with DIMMS Fan; 400 Watt Power Supply; 1 GB SDRAM (4 ea 32x72-10ns DIMMS); ITI4140ue UW SCSI controller with 10/100 ethernet; 10/100 ethernet RJ45; 9.1 GB UW SCSI 7200 RPM Segate Hard Drive; 10.6 G IDE Drive; S3 2 MB PCI video card; Elsa Gloria Synergy 8 MB PCI video card; 32x SCSI CD-ROM drive; 3.5" floppy; DEC UNIX (Tru 64) license; MPI installed; Red Hat Linux (CD) 5.2 installed; and Bay networks Bay stack. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Microway, Inc; Kingston, MA; unique supplies available from only one source. Microway, Inc. is the only source that can provide 8-megabyte cache size motherboards. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
