J -- EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND ENHANCEMENTS SOL 1999N00172 DUE 072199 POC Grace White, Contract Specialist, (770) 488-2669 The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, to Johnson Controls, Inc. (JCI) for maintenance of CDC's Emergency Alarm System (EAS), to include system enhancements on a task order basis. A contract for one base year period with four one-year options periods is anticipated. The existing CDC system is based upon two JCI Metasys systems, installed at a central location at CDC's Clifton Road location in Atlanta, GA, to monitor CDC's fire alarms, freezer alarms, sound system and motion detection system, all of which are tied into the Metasys systems. Emergency response on a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week basis is required. This procurement is being conducted under the Test Program for Certain Commercial Items of FAR Subpart 13.5. Interested firms have 20 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 20 days or without the required information will be deemed nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government not to conduct a competitive procurement based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
