The Government intends to purchase on a sole source basis the following item manufactured by Ciprico: (1) P/N CIP6910SDF261A, Ciprico 145.6GB SCSI-3 Disk Array Subsystem with 18GB drives and redundant power supplies. This item is part of a system and must be completely compatible and interoperable with each component of the system. This requirement is in support of Naval Space Command Remote Earth Sensing Information Center (RESIC). The Ciprico Raid Array will allow deployed Naval and Fleet Marine Forces to pull imagery directly from NAVSPACECOM'S RESIC to their location worldwide. The system, as designed, adheres to the stringent security requirement imposed by the Special Security Officer. Due to the size of the data files (average size 92MB) the Ciprico Raid Array (145.6GB) is required to host all available in house imagery. The requirement for obtaining this specific equipment is in direct support of the Government Research and Development program to electronically disseminate tailored imagery products to any location, staff, or command configured with SIPRNET connectivity worldwide. This equipment shall directly interface with other Government owned Silicon Graphics workstations. This requirement shall be processed under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
