DESCRIPTION: Perkin-Elmer FTIR Accessories Line Item #1: Quantity 1 each -- IMAGE SYSTEM FOR PERKIN ELMER SPECTRUM 2000 FTIR. Line Item #2: Quantity 1 each -- BNC ADAPTER/CONNECTOR FOR LINE ITEM NO. 1. Line Item #3: Quantity 1 each -- L186-1826 IMAGE CAPTURE PACKAGE FOR LINE ITEM NO. 1. Line Item #4: Quantity 1 each -- SPARE GERMANIUM CRYSTAL WITH HOLDER FOR THE I-SERIES OR AUTOIMAGE SYSTEM MICROSCOPE ATR OBJECTIVE. Line Item #5: Quantity 6 each -- DISC KBR 13 X 2 MILLIMETERS. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Perkin-Elmer Corporation, pursuant to FAR 13.106(b), for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably available from only one source. Competition is impractical because the said system must attach to the existing Perkin-Elmer FTIR microscope and camera and operate smoothly with existing Perkin-Elmer hardware and control software. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have (4) days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the (4) days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
