COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 21,1999 PSA#2351Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, 345 Middlefield
Road,Mail Stop 285, Menlo Park, CA 94025-3591 B -- PROVIDE MEASUREMENTS OF VARIOUS MERCURY SPECIES. SOL 9-7410-5292
DUE 060399 POC Trinidad F. Biando (650) 329-4176 E-MAIL:
tbiando@wr.usgs.gov, tbiando@wr.usgs.gov. The following additional
information is provided: Because of the low level of detection Hg
contamination must be monitored in the laboratory atmosphere and water
supply on a routine basis so as to preclude contamination. Mercury
analysis is to be done with state of the art cold vapor atomic
fluorescence spectrometer in order to provide the necessary
sensitivity. Similar state of the art analysis for organo-mercury
speciation is to be used. Vendor must have successfully participated in
the world wide quality assurance study of mercury analytical
capabilities and reproducibility and reported in the EPRI sponsored
Mercury as a Global Pollutant volume. Vendor will provide consulting
advice on sample collecting and preparation prior to analysis and
interpretation of data using expertise based on prior, publicly
published, studies of estuary sediments. The following analysis are
required: a.) 80 ea. Methyl Hg at ng/L level in precleaned glass
bottles using ultraclean techniques; b.) 90 ea. Total Hg at ng/Level in
pre-cleaned glass bottles using ultaclean techniques; c.) 30 ea.
Elemental Hg in pre-cleaned glass bottles at ng/L level using
ultraclean techniques; d.) 30 ea.Ionic mercury (Hg++) in water at ng/L
pre-cleaned glass with ultraclean techniques; e.) 20 ea. Methyl Hg in
precleaned amber foi sediment and precipitates at ng/g using
ultraclean techniques; f.) 90 ea ultraclean filtration of water
samples. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed
contract based upon responses to this notice is soley within the
discretion of the government. Information received will normally be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. Interested persons may identify their interest

notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Intended
source is Frontier Geosciences, 414 Pontius North, Seattle, WA 98109.
All interested parties may respond by close of business June 03,1999.
