The Pentagon Renovation Program is encouraging all potential qualified building construction contractors to learn as much as possible about our future projects. Thus, as a follow-up to Wedge 2 Industry Day which took place 12 Apr 99, the Wedge 2 IPT is conducting a construction site tour of Wedge 1 on 26 May 99 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The first hour, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., will be spent covering the following topics: addressing some of the risks that were identified during Industry Day; Changes to the Wedge 1 documents as a result of lessons learned; Status of the design for Wedge 2; Current plans for vacating Wedge 2; Samples of contract award fee plans. A tour of Wedge 1 will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Since the Wedge 1 site will be very similar to the Wedge 2 project, this tour will allow potential Wedge 2 construction contractors the opportunity to see a similar project under renovation. The Wedge 1 tour invitation is open to all qualified general building construction contractors.Qualified construction contractors are those who have completed major renovation projects (one million square feet plus) in a range from $50M to $200M. Firms should have experience working on phased construction schedules and ability to work on all facets of building construction, primarily interior core and shell construction, from demolition to final tenant fit-out construction. Type of work includes upgrading the building's complete interior architectural, heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, plumbing, power, lighting, fire protection, and telecommunication systems. Results of the risk assessment conducted during the April Industry Day exercise can be viewed on the Pentagon Renovation Website: www.dtic.mil/pentagon_renovation. Please note that this is not a request for proposals. Cost/technical proposals will not be accepted during this time. The eventual competition for this requirement will be open to all offerors. Those wishing to attend the Wedge 1 construction site tour should contact Mr. Al Mooreat (703) 693-7682 or e-mail at Mooreaj@army.pentagon.mil no later than 19 May 99. Posted 05/17/99 (W-SN332082).
