The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) is assisting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) with the assessment of solid waste processing equipment. As part of this assessment the Volpe Center is required to purchase and install a solid waste grinder onboard the USCGC Venturous and USCGC Legare. The grinder is to be used while at sea to process solid waste onboard ship prior to overboard discharge and will be used as a prototype for future potential grinder installations. The solid waste equipment to be purchased is as follows: 1.
