61 -- ELECTRICAL WIRING AND POWER DISTRIBUTION EQUIPMENT DUE 063099 POC sd13 WEB: Dahlgren Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, http://www.nswc.navy.mil/supply. E-MAIL: Dahlgren Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center, sd13@nswc.navy.mil. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is requesting information on Alternative Power Sources (APS) to provide alternate power, i.e., electric, solar, B-Motor, Fly Wheel, etc., in place of batteries that operate communication equipment, weapons systems, computers and other peripheral equipment in mobile, tactical or remote environments in support of US Marine Corps mission requirements. This information includes sources, contract vehicles, technical information and approximate cost of government-off-the shelf and commercial-off-the shelf products that can meet the requirements. NO SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. The active forces, supporting establishment and reserve units need a method of providing power that reduces costs of logistics associated with disposable lithium batteries and fuel powered generators. The following are APS technology areas of interest and capability: (1) A universal power device to use with existing military High Mobility Multi Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) power to provide DC and AC power; (2) Commercial AC/DC power converter devices; (3) Solar and wind power technology to power equipment and/or recharge batteries and peripheral equipment; (4) B-Motor and Fly Wheel technology; (5) Be transportable by man-pack, tactical vehicle, aircraft or ship. This request is for information only. This inquiry is intended to identify likely commercial products that will fill part or all of the requirements for alternative power source systems and obtain a summary of each product's capabilities. As industry may expect to see portions of submitted information in future solicitations, no proprietary information may be submitted. All interested firms shall e-mail to sd13@nswc.navy.mil by 30 June 1999, 2:00pm EST. Please reference number N00178-99-Q-3004, provide company name, point of contact, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, information regarding business capabilities and business size. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren Laboratory Procurement Division is implementing Electronic commerce (EC) in the acquisition area, therefore synopsis and resulting solicitations with any applicable amendments will be available on the World Wide Web at http://www.nswc.navy.mil/supply under Procurement Division.
