No contract will be awarded as a result of this market survey, which is for informational, purposes only. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is seeking industry to collaborate with an existing Government team to: a. Work with an existing team to identify technologies that can contribute to the development of light, more stable, more effective towed howitzer systems. b. Work with the team to develop components representative of the most promising technologies for testing on test beds. c. Help develop concepts for the Future Direct Support Weapon System (FDSWS). This weapon system will be the new, lightweight replacement for the existing 105mm Light Artillery Force s Towed Howitzer. d. Help perform the systems requirements tradeoff analysis to contribute to the development of the system requirements. e. Help move the program through the Concepts Development (CD) phase of the program and help prepare the Milestone I decision documentation. Optional phase for Program Definition and Risk Reduction (PDRR) may be included. The program will be incrementally funded with the transaction entered as early as possible in the fiscal year 2000 time frame, based on best value criteria. Possible evaluation factors include: proposed Statement of Work (SOW), proposed metrics, schedules, technology concepts, total dollar and contractor cost sharing (which may include IR&D investment), experience in light artillery design, and the ability to partner with other industries and subcontractors. It is anticipated that Other Transactions IAW 10 U.S.C. 2371 or 10 U.S.C. 2371 Section 845 will be used.
