The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)has a requirement for 15,000,000 vials of DEPO-PROVERA and equal number of syringes and needles for delivery from 10/99 through 12/2000 with a within-year option to procure up to an additional 150 percent during the same period. The contract will include four one-year options that will extend the contract through 12/31/2004. Each 12-month period of production in an option year will produce 6,000,000 vials of Depo-Provera and an equal number of syringes and needles with an option to purchase up to 200 percent of this base quantity. As UPJOHN WORLDWIDE is currently the only FDA-approved source for the manufacture of this product, USAID intends to negotiate a contract with this organization on a sole-source basis.
