The work of this project consists of the restoration of salt marsh habitat. The restoration will be accomplished by the construction of culverts and associated items beneath two roads, the Cape Cod Canal Service road and the Scusset Beach road, and by the construction of approximately 1,100 LF of riprap lined channel from the culverts to the marsh area. Major work items include excavation, grading, precast concrete culvert and electrically operated sluice gate installation, construction of cast-in-place concrete headwalls and wingwalls, placing stone protection and fill materials, bituminous concrete paving, erosion and sedimentation control, and topsoiling and seeding. Temporary roads, diversion channels, and earth support structures will be necessary to complete the work. The project area contains sensitive environmental resources and care must be taken to avoid areas outside of the designated work area. The estimated cost of the work is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 270 calendar days after receipt of a notice to proceed. Solicitation shall be available on or before 5/26/99. This solicitation is 100% set-aside for small business concerns.
