Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) has a need for space planning and
exhibit design services for a planned Lobby Information Center (LIC)
and exhibits in its headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD. The LIC will
include displays and interactive exhibits highlighting NIST's history,
mission, and activities. Offerors shall be experienced in space
planning and exhibition design to create a NIST Lobby Information
Center and exhibits to better inform visitors about the full range of
NIST programs and to make NIST's mission more tangible and
understandable to a wide range of visitors, including conference
attendees from industry, government agencies, and academia, as well as
school children and teachers. SITE VISIT: A non-mandatory pre-proposal
meeting will be held on May 17, 1999. The purpose of the meeting is to
allow prospective offerors to present questions IN WRITING and obtain
clarifications relative to any aspect of this solicitation and also to
provide a walk-through of the existing lobby space. Potential offerors
are not required to attend this meeting. A summary of all questions
will be provided to all offerors through our web site
http://www.nist.gov/admin/od/contract/contract.htm. All costs
associated with attending the meeting will be at the expense of the
offeror. If the offeror is successful in being awarded the contract,
the costs for attending the pre-proposal meeting may not be added or
included in the cost of the contract. A Request for Proposal (RFP) will
be available prior to the site visit. Offerors shall submit their
quotations to arrive at the above address no later than 3:00 P.M. local
time on May 28, 1999. The Standard Industrial Classification Code (SIC)
7389, size standard is $5.0M. This is a 100% small business set aside.
A complete Statement of Work/ Specifications will be included in the
RFP. We anticipate award of a fixed price contract with delivery of the
final design not later than January 31, 2000. The Contractor shall be
available for on-site consultation throughout the duration/fabrication.
The design accepted by NIST under a contract awarded as a result of
this solicitation will be used as the requirements document for a
subsequent solicitation for fabrication of the LIC Project. The
successful offeror/awardee from this solicitation (52SBNB9C1047) will
not be elgible to compete for the follow-on fabrication contract. All
requests for a copy of the solicitation (RFP) shall be submitted in
writing to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at
the above address. All potential small business sources are invited to
submit a proposal, which will be considered by the agency. See
