The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is planning to extend the development and maintenance of the neonatal trails data base for another five years. In April 1996 McMaster University Medical Center was awarded a four year contract to maintain and develop the neonatal trials data base and the systematic review of neonatal effectiveness and safety data by establishing a Neonatal Collaborative Review Group within the International Cochrane Collaboration. McMaster University currently represents the Neonatal Collaborative Review Group within the International Cochrane Collaboration. Their staff is uniquely qualified to continue these efforts who were intimately involved in the establishment of the registry of all controlled perinatal trials in the 1980's and have published those results. McMaster controls the proprietary software and data base, have established systems of electronic and hand searching, and statistical analysis. In addition, they have experience in the selection and training of reviewers, editing and cleaning of the reviews, and dissemination of results. Any source which believes that they have the capabilities and experience similar to the incumbent contractor should prepare a short Capability Statement that includes the qualification to perform this work.
