The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement to purchase commercially available hardware and software to upgrade the SSA Headquarters Logiplex system so as to be compatible to run on a UNIX operating system which is Y2K compliant. This upgrade of the head end computerized system will also enable SSA to monitor the Agency's outlying buildings. This upgrade will consist of: three (3) 400 MHz speed (minimum) computers each complete with 32 MEG RAM, 1 GIG hard drive, CD ROM, 1.44 inch floppy, 8 port MUX, 15 inch monitor with dot pitch of .28, 101 keyboard, 3 button serial mouse, Wangdat Wangtech Techmar model number TS 3100I-DX1 tape drive with a 2 GIG internal drive using 4mm tapes, an SCSI card ADAP TEC AHA-2940 (FSCSI2), SCO Tape Media Kit, miscellaneous cables and connectors, and a box of 5 4mm tapes for each machine. All components shall be Santa Cruz Operation, Incorporated, compatible. Each machine shall be delivered with the following installed software: Logiplex software license and SCO UNIX System V network software for each machine. Software modules shall include individual reader time edit/access plus functions, radionics program, guard tour, location control, CCTV switcher, color graphics, database mirror, hot standby, site routing, segregated data locals, and segregated data personnel. Because all of the required software is considered to be proprietary and available only when purchased through the Logiplex Corporation of Portland, Oregon, the SSA intends to solicit and negotiate only with this source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement not later than fifteen (15) calendar days after date of publication of this synopsis. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
