COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 30,1999 PSA#231352 -- MEASURING TOOLS The U. S. Army Natick Research & Development
Enterprise at the Soldier Systems Biological and Chemical Command,
Natick, MA is conducting a market investigation to identify domestic
suppliers and manufacturers of inspection and portable security
mirrors. The U.S. Army is interested in locating firms with
capabilities to provide commercial mirror products that might satisfy
the military requirement for a Tactical Search Mirror System. The U.S.
Army recently established a requirement for a tactical search mirror
system to be used for vehicle and other type searches. The salient
properties of the tactical search mirror system are as follows:
Collapsible, man portable, unobtrusive, easily transported, simple to
operate, and rapid to employ. Mirror surface which is scratch
resistant, reflects images without distortion, and not larger than 8
inches by 8 inches (nor less than 2 inches by 2 inches). Lightweight;
weigh less than 2 pounds. Compact design; not larger than 8 inches by
8 inches (by 1 inch) in size. Reach; extendable to 56 inches in length
by unfolding or telescoping. Durable; shock resistant and break
resistant. Easy to clean (typical contaminates are water, dirt, mud and
oil). Illumination attachment bracket for standard, military (straight)
or Maglite flashlight. Interested sources must, within thirty (30) days
following the publication of this synopsis, respond with information on
their product(s). Interested sources shall include information detailed
in CBD Note 25 regarding a firm's experience, personnel, and
facilities. Information should include product cost, literature and
illustrations, relevant company background/ experience, and a sample.
Firms responding shall indicate whether or not they are a small
business. The size standard for this industry (3827 and/or 3231) is 500
employees. Any information submitted will not be returned. If a firm
chooses to submit samples, no payment will be made by the Government
