The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) plans to procure through Simplified Acquisition Procedures qualified contractors to refurbish cooling tower no. 2 located in courtyard building no. 5 located at the Volpe Center in Cambridge, MA. This will require the removal of exterior metal walls that have deteriorated to the point that they can no longer contain water in this unit. The lower louvre panels have to be removed and prepared for epoxy coating and replaced where necessary. Deteriorated sections need to be replaced. The support beams holding fill matter will have to be overlayed with 16 gauge galvanized metal to retain their holding strength. Power grind and coat inside and outside of unit with Caroline caromastic 2 part low odor epoxy to extend the life of this unit. Remove fill matter, sanitize with chlorine solution. Replace any damaged fill. Replace any rotted wall panels. Reinstall sanitized fill matter and eliminators. Run up unit and check for performance. Remove all damaged and deteriorated material for disposal. Small Business firms classified under SIC code 8999 that are interested in proposing must request a Request for Quotation (RFQ).
