Stivers Phone (410)293-3398 FAX (410)293-5293 The United States Naval Academy is seeking lifeguard and pool manager services for the United States Naval Station, Annapolis, MD North Severn and South Severn Pools for the 1999 swimming season beginning on Friday, 28 May 1999 and ending on Monday, 6 September 1999. Normal hours of operation are 1130 to 1900 six days per week (south Severn Pool is closed on Mondays; North Severn Pool is closed on Tuesdays) with the following exceptions: Curtailed hours -- 1500 to 1900 1-4 June, 30 August -- 3 September (public Schools in session). One guard at South Severn Pool for Navy Junior Swim Team weekday practices and two guards for two Saturday home meets; 0730-0900 Monday through Friday, dates to be determined. Saturday meets are from 0730 to 1200. Three guards at South Severn Pool for Red Cross Swim Lesson Program, 6 weeks, Tuesday through Friday, 0900-1200. Two guards minimum for private pool parties scheduled 1900-2200 at both pools throughout the season. The number of parties varies, but is approximately 6-8 per month. Both pools are open 1200 to 1900 Monday, 31 May and Monday, 6 September. One guard for Lifeguard Certification Course, dates TBD, not to exceed 30 labor hours. Two guards to perform vacumming and scum line scrubbing duties at each pool, once a week (approx. 4 hours to complete job, depending on condition, and amount of debris in water). To comply with the lifeguard to swimmer ratios required in BUPERSINST 1710.19, the following staffing levels are recommended as minimums: 1200-1600; three guards at North Severn Pool, six guards at South Severn Pool (heavy use hours) and 1600-1900; two guards at North Severn Pool, four guards at South Severn Pool (except weekends when heavy use may continue to the 1900 closing time). Contractor is responsible to ensure pools are fully staffed during the above hours of operation. Lifeguard staff must have certifications in CPR, first aid and lifesaving. In addition, one pool manager will be on duty at each pool during regular hours of operation. Pool managers must have pool operator certification in addition to the certifications mentioned above. Contractor is required to obtain a policy of Comprehensive General Liability (CGL) insurance in the amount of $500,000.00 per person with a $1,000,000.00 total limit per occurrence for bodily injury or death, and coverage of $100,000.00 for property damage per occurrence.
