The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has a requirement for enhancement of
the USGS rapid earthquake notification system through the integration
of the existing Earthworm real-time processing system with the ORACLE
Database Management System (DBMS). In Phase I, feasibility evaluated
various DBMS products, chose the ORACLE DBMS, and executed performance
measurements. In Phase II, a functioning prototype real-time DBMS
system was completed. Two critical tasks are required to implement the
Phase III DBMS: 1) Real-time Earthquake Schema Design; and 2)
Earthquake post-processing and tracing system with a graphical
interactive timing interface. The work requires an in-depth knowledge
of network seismology, experience in developing earthquake processing
systems, in-depth knowledge of ORACLE, C, C++ and JAVA programming, and
the Earthworm architecture. Performance period is for eight (8) months
from 5/1/99 through 12/31/99. Interested parties may obtain a copy of
the Request for Quotation by contacting Marilyn Hutchison, Purchasing
Agent, at (303) 236-5900, ext. 327, or via fax at (303) 236-2710.
Responses to the RFQ will be due on or about March 31, 1999. See Note
