927-7311 The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms intends to
negotiate on a sole source basis with the University of Missouri/Rolla
for a research and development study to determine whether solid glass
microspheres, similar to the hollow glass microspheres currently in
use by the explosives industry, can be used as taggants or markers in
explosive materials for the purposes of identification and detection.
The University of Missouri/Rolla will be used as a sole source for this
R & D project due to its unique capabilities, resources, facilities,
and patents in glass micro spheres. No telephone calls accepted. See
