VA/DOD MODALITY INTERFACE DICOM CONFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS COMPLIANCE SURVEY FORMAT AVAILABLE FOR VA/DOD MODALITY DICOM CONFORMANCE REQUIREMENT. The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense have issued a joint Modality Interface DICOM Conformance protocol, to be effective on July 17, 1999. Based on industry comments at a recent workshop in Silver Springs, MD, it was determined that vendors of medical imaging modalities should be surveyed to determine the most realistic compliance schedule for the various requirements detailed in the conformance protocol. The survey is available in electronic format (MS Excel spreadsheet) from Mr. Herman Oosterwijk of OTech or to Ms. Pat McKay of the VA National Acquisition Center. Vendors of X-Ray, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound may receive the survey by emailing your request to either herman@otechimg.com or to patricia.mckay@med.va.gov The completed survey must be returned to Herman Oosterwijk by March 29, 1999. Vendor information will be kept confidential. Summary results will be provided to the VA and DoD contracting elements to determine whether an extension of the July 17, 1999 implementation date for the Modality Interface DICOM Conformance requirement is justified.
