The U.S. Coast Guard will issue a solicitation for a compatible load
bank to be designed, engineered and manufactured. The load bank shall
be a single self contained 500kW (.5MW) resistive load bank. Delivery
to Naval Engineering Support Unit, Seattle. It is intended for this
load bank to be compatible with a pair of Paul Marrow Companies Model
LB-3MW960D Load Bank Systems. The existing load banks are rated at
3Mega Watts each at 960 volts (DC). The supplier will provide technical
assistance at Naval Engineering Support unit, Seattle during the
initial set up & load banking sequence of all propulsion generators on
a polar class icebreakers, to be scheduled at a date to follow
delivery of the unit. This solicitation will be set-aside 100% for
small business. The SIC Code is 1731. The Small Business size standard
is $7 million annually. The contract type will be firm fixed price.
Award will be based on the following criteria: Lowest price of items
that meets or exceeds specifications. A Site Visit will be scheduled
between 01 Jun 99 to 04 Jun 99 for vendors to observe a load banking
sequence onboard a polar class vessel to view and observe the
compatibility of existing controls & monitors of the Paul Marrow
LB960-6MW Load Banks. A solicitation will be issued approximately 1
week after the Site Visit and will close 2 weeks thereafter. All
interested parties shall request a copy of the solicitation from the
POC listed above via e-mail, fax or written request. NO VERBAL REQUEST
WILL BE ACCEPTED. The following notice is for informational purposes:
