This is a synopsis for contract services to refurbish and recalibrate one (1) Each SSJ/4 Precipitating Particle Detector for launch on DMSP satellite S15 (launch is currently planned for August 1999). The process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks. It involves the removal and replacement of 1 set of Channel Electron Multipliers (CEMs) along with the subsequent recalibration of the instrument with the new parts. The CEMs will be provided by Hanscom AFB. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. A written solicitation will be issued on or around 23 Mar 99 to Amptek, Inc., 6 DeAngelo Dr., Bedford MA 01730-2204.
