The CECOM Acquisition Center-Washington anticipates the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for commercially produced automatic identification technologies, to include bar code symbologies, card (i.e., integrated circuit, PCMCIA, magnetic stripe, optical memory), direct/thermal/transfer and laser printing, and radio frequency communications to support DOD and Coast Guard. The equipment includes Data collection devices (i.e., portable, pen-based, mobile, hand-held, fixed); scanners, wands, slot scanners, wedges, printers; encoders/readers for magnetic stripe cards, optical memory cards, integrated circuit cards; contact memory devices; and communication devices (i.e., modems, radio frequency networks). The equipment will provide a common baseline of bar code equipment and micro-circuitry devices for both tactical and non-tactical applications. Software includes (libraries, device drivers, application programming interfaces (API), development tool kits, application generation software, wireless transaction support software, and bar code label and form generation. Services include technical engineering services (systems integration, software development, surveys and installations), training, maintenance, documentation, and program management. An indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) type contract is contemplated. The Government issued a first (RFP DAAB07-98-R-V002) and second (DAAB15-99-R-0001) DRAFT RFP, June 1998 and January 1999, respectively. Anticipated release date for the FINAL RFP is 23 March 1999 with a response date of 22 April 1999. Vendor questions on the RFP will be due 10 days after issuance (2 April 1999). Submission of vendor Past Performance Information will be required one week prior to RFP closing date.
