Fax No. (202)435-7138 The United States Secret Service has a
requirement for the ballistic resistant upgrade of security booths
located in Washington, D.C. This is a 100% small business set-aside.
The SIC Code is 3231 and the small business size standard is 500
employees. The contractor shall fabricate and install certified
ballistic resistant window and door assemblies, and opaque armor into
existing booths. The proposed work includes the following:
Examine/inspect existing conditions; verify existing structural
supports; take dimensions; develop designs; develop an implementation
plan; remove/dispose of existing door and window assemblies; install
new ballistic resistant items and related hardware; relocate items
[light fixture(s), utility outlet(s), etc.] that interfere with
installation as required; and repaint and apply finishes as needed.
There are twelve (12) booths of different sizes and styles, and three
(3) transaction counters to be renovated. The booths will be upgraded
using new products that meet or exceed UL Standard 752, Level 4
materials and components. The transaction counters must meet or exceed
UL Standard 752, Level 3, materials and components. Access clearances
will be required for all personnel working on the site. The contractor
will be required to submit information on US Government Form 1888 for
background investigation to obtain security clearances for contractor's
personnel. The contract period will be for 90 calendar days from
approved fabrication shop drawings to deliver and install the required
materials. A mandatory pre-bid inspection of the site has been
scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, 1999, at 9:30 a.m., at a location to
be determined prior to the inspection. The Government intends to award
a firm, fixed price contract, to the offeror whose proposal is
technically acceptable, and whose cost and technical merit relationship
represent the best value to the Government. Firms interested in
receiving a copy of the Solicitation must respond in writing no later
than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 1999. Firm representatives to be
present at the March 16, 1999 pre-bid inspection must provide their
full name, social security number, and date of birth with the
Solicitation Request. Telephone requests for copies of the solicitation
will not be accepted. The estimated solicitation issue date is March
