Sources sought for potential suppliers to provide chemical and/or radiochemical laboratory services. MK-Ferguson Company, a subsidiary of Morrison Knudsen Corporation, is currently performing work under a Department of Energy contract at the Weldon Spring Site Remedial Action Project located in St. Charles County in Missouri. MK-Ferguson expects to make 6 awards (3 chemical, 3 radiochemical) to qualified suppliers. The estimated value for these awards range from $50K to $250K. The chemical and radiochemical laboratory services require analyzing samples in water (waste, ground, surface, etc.) and soil (clay, sediments, etc.) matrices. Samples may or may not be radiologically contaminated. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will require the vendor to have current Materials License to handle radioactive materials. The RFP will require the bidders to propose on a specific list of analytes in soil and water matrices. The successful bidder for chemical analyses will be required to analyze (along with instrumentation backup): metals, anions, volatiles, semi-volatiles, wet chemistry, PCBs/pesticides, and nitroaromatics (explosives) methodologies. The successful bidder for radiochemical analyses will be required to analyze (along with instrumentation backup): uranium (total, alpha and gamma), radium (alpha and gamma), thorium (alpha) and other alpha/gamma spectroscopy methods. The successful bidder must have laboratory-approved standard operating procedures at the time of proposal. In addition, successful bidders must be actively participating in interlaboratory-performance evaluation programs. Prior to award to the suppliers, the supplier's facilities, staff, quality assurance program and standard operating procedures will be assessed by the MK-Ferguson Quality Department.
